FanFest, the Orioles' annual preseason celebration, comes to the Baltimore Convention Center on Saturday.
The event, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., will feature appearances by and autograph opportunities with nearly the entire Orioles team, as well as former players Mike Bordick, Rick Dempsey, Mike Flanagan, Ross Grimsley, Dick Hall, Tippy Martinez, Scott McGregor, Joe Orsulak, Jim Palmer, Boog Powell and Larry Sheets. Manager Buck Showalter and new bench coach Willie Randolph will be present, as will minor leaguer pitchers Zach Britton and Brandon Erbe.
Thousands of season ticket holders formed a line that stretched around the Baltimore Convention Center as they waited for early, 10 a.m. admission.
In addition to autograph signings, the day's entertainment will include interactive question-and-answer sessions with current and former players, coaches, executives and media; youth baseball clinics, memorabilia exhibits and interactive games. Single-game tickets for the 2011 season also go on sale at 10 a.m. Admission to FanFest is $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 14 and under and fans 55 and over.
A new autograph policy, designed to benefit youth charities and shorten wait times, is in place this year. There will be a free "Kids Only" autograph station for children ages 4 to 14 operating for the entirety of the event. Vouchers, available at orioles.com for $15 each, must be purchased in advance for all other autograph stations. Vouchers for 11 of the 15 autographs stations had sold out as of Thursday afternoon. Any vouchers still available Saturday may be purchased at the Oriole Park box office or the ticket sales location at FanFest.
Season-ticket holders may enter FanFest at 10 a.m., and the first 250 in attendance will receive a voucher to participate in a free autograph session with current Orioles Brad Bergesen, Brendan Harris and Mark Reynolds and former star Al Bumbry. Free parking for all fans is available in Lot B/C.
