Club, Jones agree on one-year deal, avoiding arbitration
The Orioles have settled one of their six arbitration cases, agreeing Sunday with center fielder Adam Jones on a one-year, $3.25 million deal. He made $465,000 last year when the club unilaterally renewed his contract. "Glad I can get to work," Jones said via a text message. "Ready to get on the field and with my teammates." In 2010, his third full season with the Orioles, Jones, 25, hit .284 with 19 homers and 69 RBIs in 149 games. This was the first year in which he was eligible for arbitration. Heading into Tuesday, when the club and its players exchange numbers, the Orioles still have five players facing arbitration: outfielders Luke Scott and Felix Pie, shortstop J.J. Hardy and pitchers Jim Johnson and Jeremy Guthrie. If the sides can't settle, an independent arbitrator will choose one of the two salaries submitted.

Blast loses to Riot, 14-12, on 3-point goal in final minute
Riot goalkeeper Ante Cop scored the game-winning 3-point goal with 23 seconds remaining in the game, lifting the host Chicago Riot over the short-handed Blast, 14-12. The Blast fell to 6-3, one game out of first place in the Major Indoor Soccer League; the Riot picked up its second victory of the season. The Blast led 10-8 after three quarters and was up 12-8 after Pat Healey scored midway through the fourth quarter, but the Riot came back with a 3-pointer by Novi Marojevic with 2:22 remaining and Cop's game-winner. Healey had two assists in addition to his goal. The Blast's Lucio Gonzaga, Mike Lookingland and Warren Ukah missed the game while serving MISL suspensions after an on-field altercation the previous weekend. Adauto Neto and Sagu missed the game with injuries.

Winters-Schuller tied for first at PGA Senior-Junior in Fla.
The team of Dennis Winters of Bishopville and Rick Schuller of Chester, Va., was one of three to shoot 11-under-par 61 Sunday to the share the first-round lead at the PGA Senior-Junior Team Championship on the Wanamaker Course at The PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Fla. Schuller eagled the par-5 first hole, their 10th of the day, with an across-the-green 50-foot putt. He added five birdies and Winters four. In 2009, Schuller won both the PGA Stroke Play and Match Play championships en route to PGA Professional Player of the Year honors. Other teams with 61 were Floridians Don Reese of Defuniak Springs and Gary Rusnak of Santa Rosa Beach on the Wanamaker and Quinn Griffing of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Bob Sowards of Dublin, Ohio, on the Ryder Course.
