Keys to victory
The key to victory for any Patterson opponent is controlling Carr, which has been easier said than done this season. The All-Metro standout averages 30 points and does so much more for the Clippers, who took over the No. 1 ranking in the area this week. The Poets' strength also can be found in the backcourt, which is led by Alston and Singletary. Coach Cyrus Jones said it will take a total team effort to limit Carr and that the Poets will try to slow down the game by playing a halfcourt offense. The Clippers have an improved supporting cast for Carr in his second season, also relying on Fowlkes, Meekins and Karrell Goines when opponents focus on Carr. While the Clippers have averaged 80 points per game, the Poets have allowed just 43 per contest. The game is the nightcap of a doubleheader at Morgan State, with No. 10 Lake Clifton taking on Digital Harbor at 5 p.m.
