A year-by-year look at Forest Boyce's career

Age 2: Is taught to ride by her mother, Ledley Byrd Boyce, a show horse rider and fox hunter.

Ages 11-14: Works with renowned point-to-point jockey Mike Smithwick and attends Garrison Forest School.

Ages 14-23: Works with trainers Holly Robinson, Alexandra White, Dickie Small and Jonathan Sheppard galloping and working horses. Graduates from Garrison Forest, goes to North Carolina-Ashville, then the Maryland Institute College of Art , where she graduates and then pursues a jockey career.

Age 24: Works for Gary Capuano in the mornings before hustling rides in the afternoon. Helped by Small, Robinson, White and others. In mid-June 2009, rides first professional mount for Jeremy Gillum at Colonial Downs. On her second professional ride, wins first race on Colony Club, trained by White, at Colonial Downs on June 30, 2009.

Age 25: June 2010 — Begins working with agent Jay Burtis, and career takes off. Wins 14 races over final 17 days of Colonial Downs meet. August 2010 — Earns Laurel Park mini-meet jockey title with 15 wins.

Age 26: Finishes year with 129 wins, the last 71 during the Laurel Park fall meet, to take jockey title for meet. Clinches 2010 jockey title in Maryland with total of 104 victories.
