The Gaels (13-5) shot less than 20 percent from the field and trailed 21-13 at the half. Calvert Hall (10-9) used man-to-man defense and long offensive possessions to keep the scoring low and the game tight.
Mount St. Joseph started a run in the fourth quarter that peaked with a David Windsor (17 points) bucket for a 38-37 St. Joe lead, its first of the game. Calvert Hall won the game on Beck's layup six seconds later.
No. 9 Oakland Mills 76, Wilde Lake 49: Greg Whittington scored a game-high 22 points to power the visiting Scorpions (13-0) past the Wildecats (6-7). Darrian Williams led Wilde Lake with 10 points. Oakland Mills capitalized on turnovers and missed shots to take a 45-26 lead at the half.
No. 15 Owings Mills 68, Randallstown 66: Ahmaad Wilson made a tip-in with 4.1 seconds left to lift the host Eagles (11-0) over the Rams (8-2). Owings Mills' Carjahn Jenkins led all scorers with 22 points.
Old Mill 79, Annapolis 76: Delone Joyce went 1-for-2 from the line to pull the Panthers (8-3) within one, but Brian Hinton made a layup to extend the Patriots (8-2) lead and preserve the win. Joe McCargo led Old Mill with 21 points, and Joyce had 29 for Annapolis.
