Greinke trade a hit with Brewer fans

Even though the trade was made only a week ago, the Brewers had Zack Greinke T-shirts available for holiday sales. They sold more than 1,500 new season tickets last week — showing that owner Mark Attanasio and GM Doug Melvin correctly read the appetite of their fan base. … The Rangers' signing of Arthur Rhodes was a blow to Dusty Baker, who got 69 appearances out of him, his most since 2001. The Reds had $4 million budgeted for Rhodes and could use that to sign Scott Podsednik, who would share left field with Jonny Gomes. … Rhodes joins Darren Oliver to give the Rangers two left-handed relievers who should be better than the top lefty in many bullpens. The Rangers also added Japanese right-hander Yoshinori Tateyama to a bullpen that could be the best in baseball if Ron Washington is really serious about keeping Neftali Feliz as his closer. Even if Texas doesn't add a proven starter, competition for jobs will be intense in Surprise, Ariz., with prospects Tanner Scheppers, Michael Kirkman, Pedro Strop and perhaps Martin Perez joining the picture and Seth McClung attempting a comeback. … New Mets manager Terry Collins has chosen No. 10 to honor Jim Leyland. "That was touching," Leyland said. "I brought him into the big leagues in Pittsburgh as a Triple-A manager and he never forgot that, and that's a nice touch. I'm proud of something like that." … It's interesting that Adrian Gonzalez says he expects only to be paid the current market price for elite first basemen in his extension talks with the Red Sox. Sounds like he's among those who think the Cardinals or someone else could give Albert Pujols $30 million per year.
