General ticket sales for the Baltimore Grand Prix will begin Dec. 16, a few weeks earlier than previously planned, Baltimore Racing Development President Jay Davidson announced Thursday.
More than 10,000 pre-sale tickets have already been sold, exceeding organizers' expectations, he said. Tickets are $20 to $895, depending on the day, seat and other amenities.
The three-day racing festival is planned for Labor Day weekend in the streets surrounding the Inner Harbor. City officials have dedicated nearly $8 million for the race, which organizers say will bring 100,000 visitors to the city and generate as much as $70 million in economic impact.
A $4.2 million city project to alter and improve streets along the course is well under way, and stadium officials have begun work on a $2 million plan to convert a Camden Yards parking lot into a pit lane.
