Mark Venable was not only Franklin's leading rusher, running for 162 yards and two touchdowns, but he was also the shining star on defense, recording 14 tackles, a touchdown off a fumble recovery and two forced fumbles, leading the visiting Indians (9-2) to a victory over No. 9 Hereford on Friday night, 47-14.

Quaterback Joe Dorsey completed 10 of his 15 passes for 173 yards and three passing touchdowns. Receiver Ian Thomas made four receptions for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

No. 3 Arundel 28, North Point 17: Nick Rosati completed three touchdown passes to Tyler Washington to lead the host Wildcats (10-1) past the Eagles in Class 4A East.

Rosati went 16-for-28 for 215 yards. Washington made nine catches for 187 yards.

Arundel faces No. 5 Broadneck, a 16-14 winner over No. 4 Old Mill, in the regional finals at a time and date to be determined.

No. 7 North Harford 15, Catonsville 6: The host Hawks were down 6-0 before a second-half rally lifted them over the Comets in Class 3A North.

Quarterback Cody Turner rushed for a 10-yard touchdown and Tyler Lenane converted the extra-point attempt to put North Harford up, 7-6. The Hawks added one more scoring drive in the fourth quarter when Ben Kenley rushed 24-yards for a touchdown and Brandon Bayer rushed for a two-point conversion.

North Harford faces Franklin, a 47-14 winner over No. 9 Hereford, at a time and date to be determined.

Wilde Lake 21, No. 12 Atholton 7: It took more than the Wildecat offense for an unranked Wilde Lake team to move past the Raiders (8-2) in the 3A East regional finals. The Wildecat defense forced two turnovers, an interception and a fumble, while the special teams accounted for six points of their own with the Anthony Miller 45-yard punt return for a touchdown.

Running back AJ Harris rushed for 99 yards on 11 carries, while EJ Gilman rushed for 83 yards and scored a touchdown on 14 carries.

The Wildecat defense held the Raiders to just 99 yards through the air and 97 yards on the ground.
