Mike Preston's Ravens matchups: Ravens vs. Falcons

Ravens safety Ed Reed vs. Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan: Atlanta likes to use a short- to mid-range passing game. Ryan's arm isn't as strong as some believe, but he goes through his progressions well and is good at finding his check-down receivers. Reed likes to jump routs and he has to be careful in this game because the Falcons will occasionally pop a long pass on the Ravens. The Falcons are coached by former Ravens linebackers' coach Mike Smith, and he is fully aware that Reed studies a lot of film, and likes to take gambles. Ryan has thrown for 1,949 yards this season. Edge: Reed

Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis vs Falcons running back Michael Turner: Lewis has had a good year but struggled last week against the Dolphins. His legs looked heavy and he missed a lot of tackles. Miami gave up on the run early against the Ravens, but Atlanta won't. Turner is a big back who can run with power, but also get outside with speed. He can wiggle. Turner has rushed for 694 yards this season on 155 carries, and teams have had success running against the Ravens. Atlanta will try to do the same against the Ravens. Edge: Even

Ravens offensive tackles Marshal Yanda and Michael Oher vs. Falcons defensive ends John Abraham and Kroy Biermann: Both Oher and Yanda have had good seasons, but both Abraham and Biermann can bring it. Oher has become more of a technical player this season while Yanda plays with a lot of heart and runs well. Biermann is a strong-motor player while Abraham is the Falcons' defensive leader. When the Falcons are on, Abraham will make two to three major impact plays per game. Edge: Even
