The senior forward played a big role in leading the No. 5 Mustangs (12-1-1) to three wins last week — including a 2-0 win over No. 8 River Hill on Thursday that clinched the program's first Howard County championship. Kanner opened the week with one goal in a 2-0 win over Oakland Mills on Oct. 18, added a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over Atholton the following day, and then headed home a key insurance goal early in the second half of Thursday's win over River Hill. Kanner, a three-year starter and four-year varsity player, led the team in scoring during the regular season with 10 goals and five assists.
