The standout freshman captured the Baltimore County cross country championship on Saturday at Dulaney, running the 5K course in a time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds to lead the Bulls to their first team title since 1984. Causey overwhelmed the field, earning a 12-second win over Loch Raven's Emily Ruppel, who finished in 19:50. Hereford had finished in second place for eight straight years prior to Saturday's breakthrough. Causey, who maintains a 4.0 grade-point average, also has enjoyed a third-place finish at Bel Air's Bobcat Invitational and was Hereford's top finisher at its Bull Run, placing seventh. She also plans to run indoor track and play lacrosse this school year.
