Arenas suffers strained groin in preseason loss to Bucks
Gilbert Arenas made his return to the Verizon Center court, and it wasn't a long one. Two nights after he conceded that he faked a left knee injury, Arenas played just three minutes before exiting the Washington Wizards' 96-88 preseason loss to the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night with strained right groin. Arenas didn't attempt a shot, but had three steals, a rebound, an assist and a blocked shot in his first home game since being suspended for bringing guns to the locker room. Drew Gooden led Milwaukee (3-1) with 25 points, while Carlos Delfino had 19. Andray Blatche led Washington (3-2) with 17 points, and John Wall, the overall No. 1 draft pick, had 15 points and 11 assists in 38 minutes.
Pa. Sports Hall of Fame to honor ex-Colt Sandusky
Alex Sandusky, who played guard on the Colts' NFL championship teams in 1958 and 1959, will be inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame on Saturday in Danville. Sandusky, 78, from McKees Rocks, Pa., starred on Clarion's first undefeated football team in 1952 as a receiver and defensive lineman before being drafted by the Colts in 1954 and playing 13 seasons in Baltimore. He was an All-Pro in 1964.

Grand Prix Invitational set for this weekend in Towson
Connie Ward of Ontario will be back to defend her title when the Women's National Duckpin Association's final event of the season, the Grand Prix Invitational, is held Saturday and Sunday at AMF Towson Lanes in Towson. Ruth Museum's Gibbons is president of heritage group
Babe Ruth Museum executive director Mike Gibbons was installed Thursday in San Diego as president of the International Sports Heritage Association. The ISHA, first known as the Association of Sports Museums and Halls of Fame, was formed in 1971. Today, with 120 member organizations representing five continents, it is dedicated to helping member institutions better preserve history and educate future generations on the importance of sports heritage as a part of cultural history. Gibbons has been executive director of the Babe Ruth Museum since 1983. A native Baltimorean, he earned his master of arts degree from Johns Hopkins.
Baseball: Orioles play-by-play voice Gary Thorne will call the American League Championship Series and World Series on Major League Baseball's international broadcasts. The analyst will be former Orioles pitcher Rick Sutcliffe.
Men's college lacrosse: Former Bucknell midfieler Chris Palmer will play for Loyola as a graduate student in 2011. Palmer, who had nine goals and nine assists as a senior for the Bison in 2010, is studying for his MBA at Loyola after earning his bachelor's degree in economics from Bucknell.
Women's college soccer: Binghamton back Stefani Knopick scored twice in the first 3:30, and the Bearcats (4-9-1, 2-2-1 America East) earned a 2-1 win over host UMBC (2-12-1, 1-5-0), which got a goal from in the 12th minute from freshman midfielder Nicole Clark (Howard).
