Just like old times, Miami rolls past Pittsburgh, 31-3
Seven years after they last played as Big East members, nothing has changed at all in the Miami-Pittsburgh series. Jacory Harris led quick touchdown drives to start each half and No. 19 Miami (2-1) dominated host Pittsburgh (1-2) much as it did when the schools were conference rivals, winning, 31-3, on Thursday night. Harris had two more floater-type interceptions like the four he threw in the Hurricanes' 36-24 loss to No. 2 Ohio State two weeks ago, but he shook them off to throw for two scores and 248 yards while going 21-for-32. Damien Berry did the rest by running for 87 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries in an offense that outgained Pitt's 348-232.

Adenhart-related trial
Jury deliberating fate of man charged in player's death
The case of a man charged with murder in a collision that killed rookie Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart of Williamsport and two other people is now in the hands of an Orange County, Calif., jury. The judge read instructions to the panel Thursday after closing arguments. Jurors then began deliberations. Andrew Gallo has pleaded not guilty to three counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of the 22-year-old Adenhart, 20-year-old Courtney Stewart and 25-year-old Henry Pearson. He also has pleaded not guilty to hit-and-run and two other alcohol-related felonies. Gallo could face more than 50 years to life in prison if convicted on all charges.
McCourts' trial
Sides to meet today to try to reach settlement
Attorneys in the divorce trial of Jamie and Frank McCourt will focus on negotiating a possible settlement starting today after nine days of testimony that could determine future ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Lawyers on both sides are scheduled to meet in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom with a different judge presiding over the discussions, according to court spokesman Allan Parachini. The talks could spill into the weekend. Jamie McCourt, a Pikesville native, wants Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon to toss out a postnuptial agreement, signed by the couple in 2004, so she can have a slice of the Dodgers under California's community property law. Frank McCourt believes he is the sole owner, and the pact should be upheld.
