Wojick carries John Carroll past IND in soccer, 2-1

Nicole Wojick scored the game-winner with 17 minutes left to lift No. 4 John Carroll girls soccer team over host Institute of Notre Dame, 2-1, on Wednesday.

The Patriots improved their record to 7-0.

Olivia Difonso headed in a ball at the 26:30 mark of the first half for a 1-0 John Carroll lead before the Indians tied the score early in the second half.

No. 3 Archbishop Spalding 4, Mount de Sales 0: Mo Ostrowski scored twice to lead the host Cavaliers (6-2-1) past the Sailors. Spalding goalies Jocelyn McCoy, Bridget Bielski and Cassidy Babin combined for the shutout. Spalding outshot Mount de Sales 17-0.

No. 8 C. Milton Wright 6, Aberdeen 1: Megan Frailer had two goals to lead the host Mustangs (5-0-1) past the Eagles. C.M. Wright outshot Aberdeen 17-4.

No. 11 Perry Hall 4, Catonsville 0: Lea Ritson scored twice and Heather Lancellotti made two saves as the host Gators (2-1) shut out the Comets.

No. 12 Loch Raven 9, Carver A&T 0: Erin Kelly and Kara Kleinhammer each scored twice to power the visiting Raiders (4-2) past the Wildcats (0-2). Jessica Carpenter (one save) and Abby Ruppel (no saves) combined on the shutout. Carpenter also scored a goal.

Field hockey

Bohemia Manor 2, No. 11 Fallston 1: Jenna Mosketti had the lone goal for the Cougars (3-3), who fell to the Eagles.

No. 10 C.Milton Wright 2, Rising Sun 0: Brooke Williams and Danielle King each scored for the visiting Mustangs (4-2). Ashley Van Sycoc and Julia DiCara had a combined two saves for the shutout.

No. 12 Hereford 1, Towson 0: Caitlin Abbott scored the game-winner in the second half, and Missy Betsill made five saves as the defending Class 3A state champion Bulls (3-2) shut out the Generals.

No. 14 Dulaney 4, Perry Hall 0: Courtney Jantzen scored twice as the host Lions (2-1) shut out the Gators.
