Adam Dunn reiterated Monday that he wants to remain with the Washington Nationals. Even if he first becomes a free agent. "I still want to be here. I don't know what's going to happen," Dunn said before the Nationals opened their final homestand of the season. "Just because I go to free agency doesn't mean I can't come back here or that I don't want to come back here. I do." The slugger leads the Nationals with 35 home runs and 93 RBIs. His representatives are talking to the team about a new contract, but Dunn says he wouldn't be surprised if the process takes so long he becomes a free agent. Players have 15 days after the World Series to file for free agency.

McCourt trial: Jamie McCourt testified Monday in Los Angeles that she didn't read a postnuptial agreement she signed that gives the Los Angeles Dodgers solely to her husband if they divorce, and the couple talked frequently about selling the team if it didn't make any money. The testimony by the former Dodgers CEO and Pikesville native followed a two-week hiatus in her divorce dispute with Frank McCourt, who claims the agreement gives him sole possession of the team. Jamie McCourt wants a judge to throw out the pact and split the Dodgers, the stadium and the surrounding property, worth hundreds of millions of dollars, between her and Frank McCourt.

Adenhart trial: A man charged with murder in a drunken-driving crash appeared shocked in a videotaped interview when police told him about the collision that killed Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart of Washington County and two others. "I did a horrible thing," defendant Andrew Gallo said as he sobbed in the recording played Monday during the trial in Orange County, Calif. Gallo, 23, also rubbed his eyes as the jury watched the interview done soon after the April 9, 2009, collision. Adenhart, 22, died just hours after pitching six scoreless innings at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Two of his companions, Courtney Stewart, 20, and Henry Pearson, 25, also died. Another friend was critically injured.

Boys' Latin's Dudley named Cornell lacrosse co-captain

Jack Dudley, a senior midfielder from Boys' Latin, has been named a co-captain of the Cornell lacrosse team with Rob Pannell. Dudley played in all 18 games last season and made two starts on the offensive midfield, totaling four goals and three assists, picking up 14 ground balls and causing two turnovers.

Men's soccer: Towson freshman forward Kay Banjo has been named the Colonial Athletic Association men's soccer Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week. Banjo scored three goals in two victories, helping raise the Tigers' record to 6-0-0. … For the second time in the first three weeks, UMBC freshman forward Pete Caringi III (Calvert Hall) has been named America East Conference Rookie of the Week. … Navy sophomore Michael Rakoczy was named the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week.

Hutsell edged by Schuller for MAPGA Head Pro title

Rick Schuller, PGA director of instruction at Swader's Sports Park in Chester, Va., won the Gear for Sports/Under Armour MAPGA Head Professional Championship at Spring Creek Golf Club outside Charlottesville, Va., by one shot over David Hutsell, PGA director of instruction at the Elkridge Club in Baltimore. Schuller birdied his second, third, and fourth holes and added three more birdies to give him a six-birdie, no-bogey score of 6-under 66. Hutsell also had no bogeys but only five birdies. Chip SullivanIn the Senior Division, Mark Lambert, PGA head professional at Nansemond River Golf Club in Suffolk, Va., won with a 4-under par 68, which was three shots better than Bud Lintelman, PGA director of instruction at Westpark Golf Club in Leesburg, Va., and Dave Eaton, PGA director of golf at Severna Park Golf Center.
