D.C. United legend Moreno will leave club at season's end
D.C. United's Jaime Moreno, Major League Soccer's career scoring leader, who has played in the league since its launch 14 years ago, will not return to the club next season.
Moreno, 36, will continue playing for United this season and then move to a club in his native Bolivia or retire and consider an offer to remain with the D.C. organization.
Moreno has 132 goals and 102 assists in 335games and was part of four MLS Cup championship teams. "These things are never easy," club president Kevin Payne said. "Before the season, we agreed to talk in the summer and decide on the future. We wanted this to come out now so other teams, if they so choose, can recognize him and so our fans can say goodbye. We didn't think it would be appropriate after the season."

Blind Date heavy favorite to win Laurel's Jameela Stakes
Blind Date, a three-time stakes winner on the grass trained by Hamilton Smith and ridden by Luis Garcia, is the 2-1 favorite for Saturday's six-furlong Jameela Stakes on the Laurel Park turf. The daughter of Not For Love will be part of an entry with Sales Tax.

Swimming: Rising Loyola senior Philip Scholz will compete at the International Paralympic Committee world championships Sunday through Aug. 21 in Eindhoven, Netherlands. Scholz, who is blind, participates in the S11 category of the Paralympic competitions.
