Haynesworth ends boycott, but starting spot not assured
On the eve of the first day of Washington Redskins training camp, Albert Haynesworth ended his months-long boycott of the team by meeting Wednesday morning in Ashburn, Va., with coach Mike Shanahan. Shanahan said Haynesworth, who recently received a $21 million bonus, must pass a conditioning test to practice. And, assuming the test is passed, the two-time All-Pro defensive lineman with the $100 million contract won't be practicing with the starting unit, at least not right away.
Also: The Redskins announced that offensive lineman Mike Williams, who started eight games in 2009, will miss the season because of a blot clot in his lungs. With Williams out, Artis Hicks is expected to start at right guard after working much of the offseason at right tackle.

A year later, Mt. Hebron alum Waagbo back on Mids staff
Kristen Waagbo has returned to Navy as an assistant coach. Waagbo, who was a volunteer coach with the Midshipmen in 2008 and 2009, returns after one season as the top assistant at UC Davis, which went 11-6 and earned a spot in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation semifinals in 2010 after going 6-12 the previous season. A two-time All-American at Duke, Waagbo concluded her career as the Blue Devils' all-time career and single-season assist leader. The Ellicott City native helped Mount Hebron to four consecutive state championships.
More Navy: The Mids announced their incoming class of freshmen, which includes midfielder Jill Coughlin (St. Mary's), midfielder Alexis Cowing (Severna Park) and defender Sam Dennis (Archbishop Spalding).
