Right wing Brian Willsie has signed a free-agent contract with the Washington Capitals. The one-year deal brings Willsie back to the Capitals, for whom he scored a career-high 19 goals and added 22 assists in 2005-06. Willsie, 32, has 52 goals and 56 assists in 380 career NHL games for the Colorado Avalanche, Capitals and Los Angeles Kings.
All-Star Game: The game earned its lowest-ever television rating. The National League's 3-1 victory Tuesday night on Fox earned a 7.5 fast national rating and 13 share. That's down 16 percent from the 8.9/15 for last season's game, a 4-3 win by the American League. The previous low was an 8.1/14 in 2005. Ratings represent the percentage of all households with televisions, and shares represent the percentage of all homes with TVs in use at the time.
Bowie State assistant Dorsett leaves for Mount St. Mary's
Bowie State men's basketball assistant coach Ahmad Dorsett will take the same position at Mount St. Mary's, a Division I school. "We're extremely happy for Coach Dorsett, will miss him but wish he and his family all the best," Bowie State head coach Darrell Brooks said. "This is a well-deserved promotion. The Mount is getting a guy that works hard, is passionate and knowledgeable about the business of basketball, and I'm sure he'll do a tremendous job."
Major League Lacrosse: Brendan Kelly took over as coach of the Chesapeake Bayhawks, replacing John Tucker, who resigned earlier Wednesday.
