Palace Baltimore to play at Calvert Hall next Saturday



Crystal Palace Baltimore's next home game, a USSF D-2 Pro League contest against the Minnesota Stars, will be played next Saturday at 5p.m. at Paul Angelo Russo Stadium at Calvert Hall. The venue, which was the high school field for former Cardinal and current Palace Baltimore player Pat Healey, has seating for 3,000 and standing room for 5,000. CP Baltimore (3-6-2) will play tonight at 7:30 at the Carolina RailHawks (3-2-4). Fans can watch live video streaming of both games at live.palacebaltimore.com.

NBA: The Washington Wizards will conduct pre-draft workouts Monday at 11 a.m. for Florida State center Solomon Alabi, South Carolina guard Devan Downey, Vanderbilt center A.J. Ogilvy, Louisiana Tech forward-center Magnum Rolle and Louisville forward Samardo Samuels.

Redskins: Washington signed fourth-round draft pick Perry Riley, a linebacker from LSU. Only first-round selection Trent Williams remains unsigned.

Men's college basketball: Mount St.Mary's has added two recruits for the 2010-11 school season: 6-foot-1 guard Josh Castellanos of Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep and 6-2 guard Julian Norfleet of Landstown High in Virginia Beach, Va.

College football: Johns Hopkins is ranked 12th in the Lindy's preseason poll and 15th in Sporting News' poll. Blue Jays kicker Alex Lachman was named to Sporting News' Division III preseason All-America team. … Bowie State head coach Damon Wilson was among 20 head coaches and assistants invited to the Expert Coaches Football Academy on Tuesday through Thursday in Anaheim, Calif. The academy will assist with career advancement, networking and exposure opportunities at NCAA colleges and universities.
