Vince Young apologized to the Titans, his teammates, his family and fans for his role in a fight at a Dallas strip club Sunday night.
Young said he was headed back to his hotel after an autograph session when he decided to go out with a friend.
"Just made a mistake even being there and let that guy provoke me into doing what I did," said Young, who was not arrested in the case. "Fell into his hands, what he wanted me to do."
Surveillance video footage released by Dallas police shows Young and several people talking in a small room before the former Texas quarterback attacked a man who had made a downward "Hook 'em, Horns" sign. Young said more went on, but he wouldn't go into details.
Young received a misdemeanor assault citation and the NFL is looking into the case.
"I'd like to think he's learned a lesson," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "The commissioner is very strict about these type of things, and I'm sure we'll hear from him."
