•Led team with five home runs and 25 RBIs

•Was intentionally walked four times against Catonsville in regional tournament, once with bases loaded just to take the bat out of her hands

•"Kim is a rock-solid third baseman who can make the hardest plays look routine," Indians coach Ed Lahay said. "At the plate we sometimes referred to her as a shark because of the way she attacks every pitch."

Kimberly Federowicz

Chesapeake-AA, sophomore, infield

•Batted .424 and tied for team lead with 26 RBIs

•Had six doubles, three triples and two home runs

•Committed just two errors in 26 games at second base

•"She is the type of player that no one knows, but when you look in the book, she helped our team either offensively or defensively," Cougars coach Donald Ellenberger said.

Adrienne Gebele

Broadneck, junior, catcher

•Batted .484 with four home runs, 11 doubles and 21 RBIs

•A steadying force behind the plate, where runners were reluctant to run on her

•Tied a state record with three doubles in the Class 4A state championship game

•Already committed to Ohio University

Melanie Gunning

Archbishop Spalding, sophomore, infield

•Led the team in batting with .409 average

•Had a team-high 11 RBIs, plus five doubles, two triples and one home run

•Had the game-winning hit in IAAM championship game after taking a hard-hit ball off the face

•"She always seemed to come through with a clutch hit at the plate and key play in the field," Cavaliers coach Kristen Scharek said.

Megan Hyson

Chesapeake-AA, junior, pitcher

•Finished the season at 10-2 with a 1.12 ERA and 139 strikeouts

•Batted .508 with six home runs, four doubles and five triples

"She showed she is a team player and has the desire to compete and play at the next level," Cougars coach Donald Ellenbeger said.

•Plans to attend Georgetown

Nikki Mantheiy

Chesapeake-AA, senior, utility-outfield

•Batted .446 and led team with nine doubles and 26 RBIs

•Pitched in 14 games, going 10-1 with a 0.65 ERA and 81 strikeouts, a perfect game and a no-hitter

•"Nikki is a very accomplished player that on most teams would be their No. 1 pitcher/player," Cougars coach Donald Ellenberger said.

•Will play at Coppin State

Kelli Pease

Lansdowne, junior, outfield

•Batted .500 with five doubles and three triples

• Hit eight home runs with 38 RBIs and scored 53 times

•Leadoff hitter often set the tone for the offense by reaching base

•"She is extremely reliable and I know when she is either up to bat or a ball is hit to her, she is going to get the job done and will be successful," Vikings coach Jamie Izdebski said.

Kourtney Salvarola

Broadneck, senior pitcher-infield

•Batted. 524 with three home runs and was 14-2 on the mound

•Had a .923 slugging percentage and 17 RBIs

•Pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts for the Class 4A state championship

•Will play for South Florida

Megan Sauble

Glen Burnie, senior, outfield

•Batted .552 with three home runs and 21 RBIs

Future CCBC-Catonsville player had seven doubles and a slugging percentage of .734

•Three-year starter and two-year captain made several crucial throws to third base and home plate for outs in wins over North East and North County

•"Megan is the best true leader both on and off the field that I have ever coached, as well as a great student and wonderful person," Gophers coach Doug Schreiber said.

Casey Schmidt

Glenelg, senior, infield

•Batted .435 with four home runs and 24 RBIs

Hit a two-run home run to lead the Gladiators to 6-3 win over Howard to win Howard County's regular-season title

•Finished with 13-1 record and an ERA of 0.59

A 3.4 student, she plans to attend Grove City (Pa.) College

Ashley Thomas

Broadneck, senior, infield

•A versatile infielder, she batted .421 with 16 runs and 19 RBIs

•Had two hits and an RBI in 11-1 victory over Sherwood in Class 4A state championship game

•Pitched a no-hitter against Meade with teammate Bekah Kiser

Will attend St. Francis (Pa.) University next season
