Loyola won the Academy Bus Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men's Commissioner's Cup for the third consecutive year, the conference announced. The Cup is a cumulative measure of athletic success in all men's sports. Loyola won the men's race with 52 points, topping Marist and Rider, which tied for second with 50. Each institution was scored in all championships in which it fielded a varsity team.
Women's college lacrosse: UMBC senior defender Sarah Willis (C. Milton Wright) was selected to play in the Division I North-South Senior All-Star Game on Saturday at the United Sports Training Center in Downingtown, Pa. Willis will play for the South squad, which consists of seniors from Division I schools in Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia and Washington.

Major League Lacrosse: Patrick Moran (Severn), an All-America midfielder for Navy last season, was selected 29th overall by the Denver Outlaws in the 2010 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on Sunday.
College track and field: Junior Kiani Profit will be the Terrapins' lone representive when she competes in the heptathlon at the NCAA outdoor track and field championship, which will be held June 9-12 at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field in Eugene. Profit was the Women's Co-Field Athlete of the Year.
College field hockey: Maryland coach Tjerk van Herwaarden was promoted to associate head coach/technical director, while former Terrapins All-American and Olympian Dina Rizzo returns to College Park as an assistant coach.
D.C. United: The team said midfielder Brandon Barklage has undergone successful anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction surgery. The 23-year-old suffered the season-ending injury during United's international friendly, or exhibition game, against AC Milan on May 26; it was his second ACL tear since being acquired Jan. 15, 2009. Additionally, United has lost left back Rodney Wallace for six weeks because of a left fibula fracture. Wallace suffered the injury in the first half of Saturday's 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake. Coming into the match, Wallace had started all 10 of United's MLS games. In other news, the club's youth academy teams wrapped up regular-season play this weekend in Massachusetts with a 0-3-1 overall record against the Boston Bolts and the New England Revolution. Both United Academy sides have already qualified for the U.S. Soccer Development Academy finals.
Golf: PGA Director of Instruction Wayne DeFrancesco and Assistant Professional Jay Lindell (Woodmont Country Club in Rockville) successfully defended their title at the Middle Atlantic PGA Pro-Assistant Championship at Chantilly National Golf & Country Club in Centreville, Va., firing a 5-under par 67 to win by one stroke over the team of Jerry Donahue and Roger Hatcher (Golf Tour Trailer Studios).
