Wright's Markey no-hits Towson

Right-hander Brad Markey pitched his his first no-hitter and fourth shutout of the season as the top-ranked C.Milton Wright baseball team beat Towson, 14-0, in the Class 3A North regional final at the Ripken Stadium complex.

Markey (7-0) went five innings and struck out eight. An error in the first inning prevented the perfect game. Offensively, Markey went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs on a single and three on a triple..

C. Milton Wright (21-0) faces Atholton in Tuesday's state semifinal at Joe Cannon Stadium at 4 p.m.

No. 5 Atholton 2, J.M. Bennett 1: Jonathan Thews hit a sacrfice fly to left field to score the winning run for the visiting Raiders (20-4) against Bennett (18-2) in the Class 3A East regional final.

Harford Tech 6, Loch Raven 5: Freshman Nick Waite hit a game-winning RBI single to center field to lift the visiting Cobras (11-10) over the Raiders in a Class 1A North regional semifinal.

Softball

No. 5 C. Milton Wright 1, No. 8 Franklin 0: Lindsay Resnik got the only extra-base hit of the game, an RBI double in the fifth inning, to lift the Mustangs (20-2) over the Indians (18-0) in the Class 3A North regional final.

No. 6 Glenelg 3, McDonough 2: The host Gladiators (19-2) scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Rams in the Class 2A South regional semifinal.

No. 7 Howard 4, Stephen Decatur 1: Right-hander Sammi O'Connor (9-1) went seven innings and gave up one run on four hits as the host Lions (19-2) beat the Seahawks (18-3) in the Class 3A East regional final.

Howard faces C.M. Wright in Tuesday's semifinal at Bachman Field.
