An All-Metro first-team pitcher last spring for IAAM A Conference champ Seton Keough, Hyson transferred to Chesapeake and hasn't skipped a beat. Last week, the junior right-hander helped the No. 1 Cougars to victories over then-No. 9 Glen Burnie, then-No. 15 Northeast and Meade. She went 2-0 on the mound, pitching a three-hit shutout against Glen Burnie with 15 strikeouts and combining with teammate Nikki Mantheiy to hold Meade hitless. In 11 innings, she struck out 24. She also went 3-for-6 with four runs, a home run and an RBI. This season, Hyson is 8-1 with 101 strikeouts and only five earned runs in 53 innings. Her ERA is 0.66. Through Sunday, she was batting .488 with 17 RBIs. She has committed orally to play at Georgetown.
