No. 8 Towson loses to No. 11 JMU in 2nd OT, 10-9

Monica Zabel scored her 26th goal of the season with 4:14 left in the second overtime to lift visiting No. 11 James Madison (8-2, 1-0 Colonial Athletic Association) to a 10-9 victory over No. 8 Towson (7-3, 1-1) on Friday night. The Tigers, who got a hat trick from Hillary Fratzke, forced both overtimes.

More state games: Emily Gibson (North Harford) and Grace Gavin (St. Paul's) scored a game-high five goals each to power visiting Loyola (9-4, 3-1 Big East) to a 17-10 win over Louisville (7-4, 1-2). The No. 13 Greyhounds went on an 8-0 run in the second half to take the lead for good. ... Meaghan Conlon (Liberty), Ashley Johnson and Esther Rufolo (Chapelgate) each scored four goals as host Mount St. Mary's (5-7, 3-3 Northeast Conference) won, 16-5, over Central Connecticut State (4-7, 0-6). ... Kelsey Blackwell and Katie Vu each scored twice in a losing effort as host Hood (4-9) fell, 10-6, to Ferrum (11-4).

National games: Katrina Dowd had four goals and top-ranked Northwestern (10-0) scored five unanswered goals to secure a 12-8 win over No. 6 Pennsylvania (9-3). ... Jacqueline Giles (Mount Hebron) had four goals to lead 12 Hoyas (6-5, 4-0 Big East) in scoring as No. 14 Georgetown won, 21-8, over host Cincinnati (4-6, 0-3). ... Halley Quillinan had a hat trick and tough defense limited host Connecticut (7-5, 0-3 Big East) to one goal per half as No. 9 Syracuse (7-3, 2-0) won 11-2.
