Pete Weber defeated Mike Scroggins on Sunday to win the Lumber Liquidators Marathon Open, moving the Hall of Fame bowler into third place on the PBA Tour's career win list. "I feel like I just won my first title," the teary-eyed Weber said. "I don't know what to say. It's been three years since I won. I thought I was never going to win again." Weber, of St. Ann, Mo., has 35 victories to break a tie with Mark Roth, and his 268-224 win also denied Scroggins the PBA Tour Player of the Year award. Instead, Walter Ray Williams Jr. won the honor for the seventh time. Williams has 47 titles, and the late Earl Anthony won 43 times. Weber led the title match against Scroggins, of Amarillo, Texas, from the start, with five straight strikes before converting a single-pin spare. He then added four strikes. On breaking his titles tie with Roth, Weber said, "I never thought I'd get to 34 titles, let alone pass Mark Roth. He was my idol growing up. I feel kind of bad about going past him, but not really."
