Lake Clifton senior combo guard Josh Selby has been selected as one of 10 players on the Parade All-America high school boys basketball second team.
The magazine's 54th annual edition of its national all-star team will be published Sunday. In his first season at Lake Clifton after transferring from DeMatha, Selby averaged 32 points, seven assists, five rebounds and two steals; the Lakers were 15-6 and ranked 10th.
The Baltimore Sun's All-Metro Player of the Year, Selby, who is 6 feet 3 and 190 pounds, is considering scholarship offers from Arizona, Connecticut, Kansas and Kentucky. He is rated the No. 4 senior in the country by Rivals.com. Josh Hairston, a 6-9 forward from Montrose Christian in Rockville, was the only other Marylander honored by Parade. The Duke-bound Hairston made the third team.
Girls: Maryland recruit Alyssa Thomas, a 6-foot forward from Central Dauphin High in Harrisburg, Pa., was named to Parade's first team.
