Redskins sign former Buccaneers punter Bidwell

Baltimore Sun

The Washington Redskins signed free-agent punter Josh Bidwell, 34, who spent the past six years with Tampa Bay Buccaneers but missed the 2009 season after having surgery on his right hip. He went to the Pro Bowl in 2005 and has a career average of 42.8 yards.

More Redskins: Tackle Stephen Heyer (Maryland) was awarded $265,000 from the NFL's performance-based pay pool, which compensates players whose playing time was disproportionate to their salaries. Heyer started every game last season while making about $467,000.

Video: Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards has been given exclusive rights by ESPN to sell the DVD of the "30 for 30" documentary "The Band That Wouldn't Die," about the Baltimore Colts' Band, which became Baltimore's Marching Ravens. The DVD is priced at $16.
