The Blast, which will begin the Major Indoor Soccer League playoffs Friday, closed the regular season Sunday with a 19-12 loss to the host Philadelphia KiXX. Philadelphia took leads of 10-2 and 14-4 before the Blast rallied to within 14-12 heading into the fourth quarter on two goals by rookie Max Ferdinand, including one on the power play, and one each by Carlos Garcia and Mike Lookingland. Pat Morris ended the Blast's run with a goal at 3:07 of the fourth quarter to put the KiXX on top, 16-12, and Ptah Myers scored a last-minute three-point goal against Baltimore's sixth attacker to hand the Blast the 19-12 loss. Pat Healey had the Blast's first two goals. "In the first half we got away from the things that made us successful in the second half of the season," Blast coach Danny Kelly said. "In the second half we got back to doing what we needed to do, finished some opportunities and had a chance to win. We had a much better second half; it just didn't happen for us at the end." The Blast (11-9) finished in second place and will face Monterrey La RaZa in a home-and-home semifinal series that will start Friday in Mexico. Game 2 will be next Monday at 1st Mariner Arena.
