Suggs present for first day of offseason conditioning

Terrell Suggs was present for the first day of the Ravens' offseason conditioning program, a team spokesman confirmed.

The three-time Pro Bowl linebacker was expected to show at Ravens headquarters after missing the program the past two years because he was the team's franchise tag player. Suggs' playing shape has been a hot topic after he recorded a career-worst 4 1/2 sacks in the same year that he signed a six-year, $63 million deal.

Suggs said he is trying to get back to his normal playing weight of 265 pounds.

"I liked the way my body used to look in my uniform, so I'm trying to get that back," Suggs told the team's web site. "I put on weight so I could be stronger against the run, but I've always been good against the run. I'm looking forward to being the best player I can be for my team."

The offseason program is voluntary.
