Taylor Gload Hereford, wrestlingA quiet, humble leader, this 198-pound senior made his two-year dream come true in his final high school match, winning the 4A-3A state title in the heavyweight class. Giving away 50 to 70 pounds to each of his opponents, Gload won the championship match with a pin and ended his heavyweight career with a 42-0 record. His overall record this season was 41-1, with his loss coming in a 215-pound bout. The 41 wins broke the school record for wins in a season, which Gload had set last year. The key to the senior's heavyweight success, said coach Ron Causey, is his strength: "His grip is unbelievably strong, and his strength simply overwhelms his opponents." Gload carries a 4.5 weighted grade-point average and has not decided on a college for next year.
