The Maryland baseball team set an Atlantic Coast Conference record by stealing eight bases in its 10-3 victory over visiting Hofstra on Saturday in College Park. The Terps constantly put runners in motion with steals and hit-and-runs and took advantage of those opportunities, going 8-for-21 (.381) as a team with runners on base. David Poutier had a career-high three stolen bases and Matthew Murakami added two. The previous ACC single-game record was five stolen bases. Matt Marquis' three-run home run in the third inning gave Maryland a 4-0 lead and the Terps never looked back. Brandon Padula went 3-for-3 with two RBIs, a walk and a run. The junior entered Saturday second in the ACC in batting average and is now hitting .563 this season. Marquis, Rodriguez and Adam Kolarek had two hits apiece as Maryland (4-6) won its third straight game. Brett Harman (1-2) struck out a season-high nine batters, one short of his career high, in eight innings to earn the win. Jared Rogers (0-3) got the loss.
