College Baseball Hall to induct former Heel, Oriole Surhoff

Baltimore Sun

Former Orioles outfielder B.J. Surhoff was elected to the College Baseball Hall of Fame. Surhoff, a catcher at the University of North Carolina from 1983 to 1985, is the only Tar Heel to earn first-team All-America honors in back-to-back seasons. He'll be inducted along with nine others in July in Lubbock, Texas.

Blast: Forward Machel Millwood was named Major Indoor Soccer League Player of the Week after recording a hat trick worth eight points in a 23-14 victory over the Philadelphia KiXX on Sunday.

Wizards: Washington waived guard Mike James, 34, after coming to a mutual agreement on a contract buyout. He appeared in four games this season, averaging 4.5 points.
