Junior midfielder Amanda Pappas (Chesapeake-Anne Arundel) scored six goals and Emily Coady (Westminster) three as UMBC rolled to a 16-8 women's college lacrosse victory over host George Mason.
Men's college soccer: Brian Rowland, a four-year starter at UMBC and two-time Retrievers captain, was named an assistant coach at Maryland. Rowland, who earned All-America honors as a goalie in 2002, later played for the Blast and Crystal Palace USA among other pro teams.
Women's college soccer: Loyola announced its incoming class, which includes defender Sally Meehan of River Hill.
