Maryland GreenHawks coach Otis Hailey died from kidney failure Saturday morning, the Premier Basketball League announced. "On behalf of the Premier Basketball League, its players and staff, we send our condolences to Otis Hailey's family," PBL chairman Severko Hrywnak said in statement. Hailey had been named GreenHawks coach Jan. 19, replacing Rob Spon. Hailey coached two games for the GreenHawks, winning against the Quebec Kebs and losing to the Rochester RazorSharks. Hailey worked as a head coach for 10 years, beginning in February 2001, when he was promoted from assistant coach of the International Basketball Association's Saskatchewan Hawks. He was also associated with minor league teams in Bakersfield, Calif.; Tijuana, Mexico; Calgary, Alberta; Los Angeles; Jamestown, N.Y.; and St. Catherines; Ontario.
More GreenHawks: Saturday night's game against the Vermont Frost Heaves in Rockville was postponed because of inclement weather. A date for the make-up game is to be determined. Fans who had tickets to Saturday night's game will be allowed to use them for the make-up game.
Wizards: Because of the inclement weather, the Washington Wizards are offering exchange opportunities for fans who were unable to attend Saturday night's home game against the New York Knicks. Fans can take their unused ticket to the Verizon Center box office beginning Monday at 10 a.m. and exchange it for a ticket to the Wizards' game against the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday. Wizards plan holders can exchange their unused tickets for tickets to the Hawks game or redeem them for one of the pre-selected exchange games listed in their plan-holder online guide.
