Jordan Taylor had a rocky start replacing Trevon Hughes.
Wisconsin's backup point guard committed two turnovers and missed a jumper shortly after Hughes picked up two quick fouls, but he got better in a hurry to help the Badgers hand Purdue its first loss this season.
Taylor scored a career-high 23 points, Jason Bohannon tied a career high with 20 and No. 17 Wisconsin beat No. 4 Purdue 73-66 Saturday in Madison, Wis.
Purdue's 14-0 start tied the best in school history, but both the 1993-94 squad led by Glenn Robinson and this year's team saw their streaks end in Madison.
"It's frustrating that we lost. It's not frustrating that we're not 15-0," Purdue's Robbie Hummel said.
The Boilermakers (14-1, 2-1 Big Ten) trailed most of the game. E'Twaun Moore had 24 points and Hummel added 13, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the Boilermakers' poor shooting from 3-point range (3 of 10) and the free-throw line (13 of 24).
Wisconsin (13-3, 3-1) improved to 130-10 at home under coach Bo Ryan.
•Gani Lawal scored 21 points, including a crucial shot with just over a minute remaining, and No. 20 Georgia Tech (12-3, 1-1 ACC) bounced back from a dismal loss to Georgia with a 71-67 upset of fifth-ranked Duke (13-2, 1-1) in Atlanta. Jon Scheyer led the Blue Devils with 25 points. ... Iowa State suspended guard Chris Colvin, and forward L.A. Pomlee has been dismissed from the team. Coach Greg McDermott punished both players for violating team rules.
