Siena pulls away from Loyola, 76-56; Morgan, Navy and Towson also lose

Siena used two runs of 10-0 or more to pull away from Loyola's men's basketball team as the visiting Saints won, 76-56, Monday at Reitz Arena.

Clarence Jackson led all scorers with 24 points for Siena (11-4 overall, 4-0 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference), and the junior guard also had seven steals. Edwin Ubiles contributed 22 points and tied two other Saints - Ryan Rossiter and Alex Franklin - for game-high honors with eight rebounds.

Jamal Barney (Southwestern) scored 15 points and had six assists to lead Loyola (8-6, 1-3). The loss ended the Greyhounds' season-best four-game winning streak.

Loyola led in the early going, but Siena slowly took the lead and went ahead by nine, 24-15, on a fast-break basket by Jackson.

Tony Lewis made a jumper for the Greyhounds, but Siena scored the next 10, nine by Ubiles and Jackson, to go ahead 34-17 on two free throws by Jackson with 17 seconds left in the first half.

Robert Morris 78, Morgan State 75: Rob Robinson scored five of his game-high 23 points in the final minute to lift the host Colonials (7-7) over the Bears (8-6).

Kevin Thompson led Morgan State with 19 points.

Howard 72, Navy 65: Curtis White scored a career-high 21 points, leading four players in double figures, as the host Bison (2-13) beat the Midshipmen (6-9).

White finished with three 3-pointers and went 8-for-9 from the foul line for the Bison, who made 23 of 32 free throws (71.9 percent).

Navy led by 11 points midway through the opening half and took a 36-30 halftime lead. But the Bison fought back in the second half, outscoring the Midshipmen 42-29 to seal the comeback win.

Chris Harris scored 18 points to lead the Midshipmen, who have lost five of their past seven.

Old Dominion 87, Towson 71: Gerald Lee scored 19 points and Ben Finney added 17 as the visiting Monarchs (10-5, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association) beat the Tigers (3-9, 0-3).

Robert Nwankwo led Towson, which has lost four straight games, with 18 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field.

Oklahoma 88, UMES 54: Cade Davis scored 19 points and Tiny Gallon had 13 points and 12 rebounds as the host Sooners (9-5) beat the Hawks (3-10) to end a two-game losing streak.

Sean Berry scored 16 points to lead UMES, which shot just 30 percent and committed 18 turnovers.
