Baltimore Sun

The Blue Jackets have activated left wing Fredrik Modin off the injured list and assigned center Derek MacKenzie to the club's AHL affiliate in Syracuse.

General manager Scott Howson announced the moves on Saturday. Modin returned in a 3-1 loss to the Ducks, recording four shots on his goal in 12 minutes of action.

The 35-year-old Modin injured his knee during a preseason game at Minnesota and has yet to play this season. The Swede is in his 13th NHL season and has 220 goals and 221 assists.

•The Devils' Patrik Elias scored the 300th goal of his career in a victory over the Flyers. ... Canadiens defenseman Marc-Andre Bergeron left after he suffered a cut when hit on his face by a puck early in the second period against the Thrashers.
