NHL suspends Coyotes' Jovanovski

The NHL suspended Phoenix defenseman Ed Jovanovski two games on Wednesday for a forearm to the head of Wild center Andrew Ebbett.

Jovanovski, whose hit on Ebbett in the third period of Monday's game was not called a penalty, will miss Thursday's game at Los Angeles and Saturday's game against San Jose.

He will lose more than $67,000 in pay and will be eligible to return Monday at Detroit.

•The Blue Jackets activated forward Derek Dorsett (concussion) and he played against Florida. ... The Capitals recalled goaltender Michal Neuvirth from AHL Hershey. Starting goalie Semyon Varlamov is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. ... The Coyotes signed defenseman Michael Stone, 19, to an entry level contract.

•Mark Messier was officially introduced as general manager of Canada's team for the 2010 world championship. He said he hopes to get former Edmonton teammate Wayne Gretzky to coach the team.
