Green Bay stuns No. 20 Wisconsin

Baltimore Sun

Bryquis Perine scored 22 points and Troy Cotton hit a key 3-pointer as host Wisconsin-Green Bay beat No. 20 Wisconsin 88-84 in overtime on Wednesday night.

Rahmon Fletcher added 18 points for the Phoenix (9-2), who held off a second-half surge by the Badgers and took control in overtime.

Trevon Hughes scored a career-high 27 points for the Badgers (6-2) but fouled out in overtime.

The game was played despite a blizzard that forced the governor to close the Wisconsin university system throughout the state.

Pay raise: Binghamton University is giving interim coach Mark Macon a raise.

Acting athletic director James Norris says Macon has been granted an increase to his $57,651 salary but declined to say the amount.

Macon took over the team in mid-October when coach Kevin Broadus was placed on paid leave from his $230,000-a-year post after starting guard Emanuel "Tiki" Mayben was arrested on drug charges and five teammates were dismissed for unspecified violations.

Memphis appeal: The University of Memphis isn't backing down in its appeal of the NCAA order to vacate the 2007-08 season. Memphis argues in its 28-page rebuttal, filed Monday, to the NCAA's response to the university's appeal that the Committee on Infractions puts the Tigers at risk of double jeopardy. If the appeals committee decides to restore the vacated wins or cut the fine, the Committee on Infractions has asked that the case be remanded back to it to consider other punishment.
