Jean, Kilpe Huber among 8 headed to UMBC Hall

The UMBC Athletic Hall of Fame Committee announced that the following eight nominees will be inducted Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the BWI Airport Marriott Hotel: Huguens Jean (track and field, 1999-2003), Ingrid Kilpe Huber (swimming and diving, 1999-2003), LaNae Baker (volleyball, 1995-1998), Kevin Goh (swimming and diving, 1997-2001), John Jancuska (head baseball coach, 1978-present), Craig Linthicum (lacrosse, 1978-1981), Monica Logan (women's basketball, 1995-1999) and Deanna Vecchio (softball, 1999-2002). Jean attended Howard High, and Kilpe Huber went to Centennial.

Women's lacrosse: Redshirt junior attackman Brittney Zerhusen (Century) was named one of three Ohio State captains for the 2010 season. Zerhusen, who sat out last season, started all 18 games in 2008, recording a team-high 36 goals, tied for seventh most in a season in program history.

Field hockey: Salisbury sophomore defender Tara McGovern was named Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Mid-Atlantic Defensive Player of the Year. McGovern was also selected to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region first team. Senior forward Lauren Correll was named second-team All-Region.

Soccer: Crystal Palace Football Club USA president Pete Medd was named Executive of the Year in the United Soccer Leagues' Second Division.
