KEYS TO VICTORY
Both teams are coming off solid road wins on Tuesday that puts each at 2-1 in the balanced Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference. St. Paul's was particularly impressive in fending off No. 3 St. Mary's, 8-7, in Annapolis with McGovern (four goals, one assist) and Barretto (13 saves) carrying the team to an important win. The host Cardinals, coming off an 11-6 win at Archbishop Spalding, are a relatively young team, but showing no indication in the early season. Both teams have explosive attacks with standout players. McGovern and Flaig are constant threats the Cardinals must contend with. McSorley has played well in the early season and the trend will have to continue with much of the Cardinals' inexperience coming on defense. Kelly is enjoying a stellar season and has the ability to take over games. Brown has been the ideal complement to him. The Crusaders had cohesive play on defense against St. Mary's, allowing Barretto to make easier saves from farther away from the cage. That will have to continue for St. Paul's on Friday.
