The senior midfielder is the area's finest faceoff specialist and more proof came last week when he led the No. 1 Saints (12-6) to the Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference championship. In Friday's 13-8 championship win over then-No. 1 McDonogh, he won 19 of 25 faceoffs and scooped up 13 ground balls to be named the game's Most Valuable Player. It was the first league championship for St. Mary's since 1996. Woodall, an All-Metro second-team selection last season, was at his best in the pivotal second quarter when he won seven of eight faceoffs and five straight to help give the Saints a 6-2 lead they would never relinquish. The second quarter also proved big in Tuesday's 9-5 semifinal win over then-No. 2 St. Paul's. Woodall won five of six draws as the Saints took a 6-1lead into halftime. He finished the game winning 11 of 18. Set to play at High Point, the four-year starter won 270 of 372 faceoffs and contributed five goals and nine assists this season.
