Women's roundup: Loyola Maryland falls to Syracuse in OT

Even a three-goal performance from Kara Burke (Dulaney) wasn't enough for the No. 11 Loyola Maryland women's lacrosse team as No. 2 host Syracuse scored the last five goals and won in overtime, 14-12, on Saturday.
The Greyhounds (15-5) trailed for most of the game until going on a 5-0 run in the second half for a 12-9 lead. The run started with free-position goals by Annie Thomas (John Carroll) with 18:26 left and by Burke 1:13 later.
The Orange (18-2) answered as Alyssa Murray scored two of her game-high four goals during the run. Syracuse's Kayla Treanor tied the score at 12 to force overtime with 41 seconds left. In the extra period, Katie Webster scored the go-ahead goal with 4:14 left and Liz Harbeson (Severn) added a goal with 1:52 remaining.
Salisbury 13, York 6: Shannon Carta (South River) had four goals and the host Sea Gulls (18-1) claimed their 14th Capital Athletic Conference championship by beating the Spartans (14-4).
Stevenson 13, Messiah 12: Carli Bafford (Francis Scott Key) scored her only goal, the game-winner with 2.4 seconds left, as the visiting Mustangs (13-5) claimed the Commonwealth Conference championship, beating the host Falcons (11-7).
Gettysburg 21, McDaniel 11: The host Bullets (15-2) used runs of 5-0 and 4-0 in the first half to take control and beat the Green Terror (10-8) in a Centennial Conference semifinal.
Franklin & Marshall 13, Washington College 11: Carly Eisenbrandt (Towson) tied the score with 9:45 left for the Shorewomen (11-5), but the Diplomats (15-4) scored twice over the final 3:57 to win a Centennial Conference semifinal at Gettysburg.
No. 5 Boston College 20, Boston University 11: Covie Stanwick (Notre Dame Prep) scored four goals to lead the Eagles (13-5) past the host Terriers (9-11).
No. 17 Louisville 9, Georgetown 8: Faye Brust (John Carroll) had a career-best six goals as the Cardinals (15-3) beat the host Hoyas (10-8) to win the Big East championship.
