Top-ranked Calvert Hall boys basketball kept the wins coming using a balanced scoring effort with four double-digit scorers to beat Haverford (Pa.), 77-58, at Philadelphia University on Saturday.
The Fords (2-2) stayed within three possessions at the close of the first half, 32-23, but the Cardinals (4-0) ramped up the offense in the second half, outscoring Haverford 21-13 in the third quarter and 24-12 in the fourth.
Drew Edwards led Calvert Hall with 17 points. The other double-digit scores were Evan Phoenix (13), Nico Clareth (11) and Justin Gorham (11).
The Cardinals next host No. 2 St. Frances in a Maryland Interscholastic Athletic Association A Conference game Wednesday at 7 p.m.
On Friday against A Conference opponents, Calvert Hall beat McDonogh, 76-64, and the Panthers lost, 62-45, to No. 4 Mount Saint Joseph.
C. Milton Wright 64, Thurgood Marshall 45: Will Hazelton had a game-high 18 points and six steals to lead the host Mustangs (1-0). C. Milton Wright led 22-8 at halftime.
Girls basketball
No. 2 Roland Park 53, Peddie School (N.J.) 46: The Reds (4-0) captured the Peddie School Tip-Off Tournament championship in Hightstown, N.J., with a come-from-behind victory over the host Falcons.
Tournament MVP Lindsey Edwards had 16 points and six rebounds. On Friday, Edwards had 17 points and nine rebounds in a 60-43 win over Penn Charter (Pa.) in the opening round.
Friday boys basketball
Dundalk 56, Patapsco 34: The host Owls (1-0) overcame poor shooting with a strong defensive effort to beat the Patriots (0-1).
Dundalk forced 17 turnovers and limited Patapsco to 25 percent shooting. Malik Winston led seven Dundalk scorers with 18 points.
