Laurin Mincy and Lynetta Kizer scored 15 points each to lead No. 8 Maryland to an 84-52 win over FIU on Friday night in the Florida International Thanksgiving Classic at U.S. Century Bank Arena.
Kizer went 6-for-9 from the foul line and Mincy went 5-for-6 with two 3-pointers.
The Terrapins (6-0) were never threatened after a late first-half run and then expanded a 44-30 lead at halftime with an 18-7 spurt in the opening 6:41 of the second half.
Alyssa Thomas scored six points during the run, and Alicia DeVaughn's inside field goal with 13:19 remaining capped the surge and gave the Terrapins a 62-37 advantage.
Thomas finished with 12 points, and Tianna Hawkins scored all 13 of her points in the first half.
Jerica Coley scored 19 of her 24 points in the first half to lead Florida International (2-3).
As a team, Maryland had a season-high 25 assists, including 10 from redshirt senior guard Anjalé Barrett.
The Terrapins held a 35-23 advantage on the boards and beat the Golden Panthers in the paint 32-11.
Both teams committed 18 turnovers, but the Terps were able to capitalize for 26 points off the Panthers' giveaways, while FIU scored just 10 off the Terrapins'.
The Terps will play Cal State Bakersfield (2-3) at 2 p.m. today as part of the tournament.
The Terrapins return home to play host to Michigan (6-0) on Wednesday at 7p.m. in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
