State women: Morgan State gets past Coppin State, 74-61

Bianca Jarrett scored a team-high 18 points and was 11-for-12 from the free-throw line as visiting Morgan State (8-15, 5-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) defeated crosstown rival Coppin State, 74-61, on Saturday.

Whitney Southerland hit back-to-back 3-pointers midway through the second half to spark an 18-3 run for the Bears. The Eagles (9-15, 5-6) fought back to within seven but never regained the lead.


Kyra Coleman paced Coppin State with 22 points.

Navy 60, Lafayette 52: The Mids (14-9, 7-1 Patriot League) overcame a slow start to beat the Leopards (10-13, 3-5) on the road in overtime.

Lafayette's Maddie Peabody tied the game with a layup with 9.2 seconds left, but Navy seized a five-point lead in overtime and hit three free throws to seal the victory.

Jade Geif led the Mids with 19 points in the win, their fifth straight.

UMBC 71, Vermont 55: The Retrievers (8-16, 4-7 America East) hit a conference-season-high 28 free throws to beat the visiting Catamounts (7-16, 4-6).

UMBC went on a 10-0 run midway through the second half and shot 22-for-23 from the free-throw line in the period.

Canisius 48, Loyola 39: Despite a game-high 13 points by senior Katie Sheahin, the visiting Greyhounds (9-13, 4-8 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) fell to the Golden Griffins (9-13, 6-6).

Alyssa Sutherland added 12 points for the Greyhounds, while Tiffany Padgett had eight points and 14 rebounds.


Saint Francis (Pa.) 83, Mount St. Mary's 59: The Mount (9-13, 5-6 Northeast Conference) was on the wrong end of a 13-2 first-half run and lost to the host Red Flash (13-9, 8-3).

Jacqueline Brewer paced Mount St. Mary's with 16 points.

Howard 59, UMES 30: The Hawks (6-13, 2-6 MEAC) converted just one field goal in a 12-minute stretch in the second half and fell to the host Bison (13-9, 7-3).

Jameelah Pickard led UMES with six points.

Lincoln (Pa.) 65, Bowie State 50: The host Lions (8-14, 4-8 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association) completed their first regular-season sweep of the Bulldogs (6-14, 3-9).

Johns Hopkins 69, Ursinus 65: Alex Vassila had 21 points and 10 rebounds for the visiting Blue Jays (14-10, 12-7 Centennial Conference) as they downed the Bears (11-12, 8-10).


Albright 75, Stevenson 70: Stephanie Martinez scored a game-high 26 points for the visiting Mustangs (7-14, 4-12 Mid-American Conference), who fell to the Lions (11-12, 7-9) and lost their fourth straight game overall.

Elizabethtown 58, Hood 47: The host Blazers (5-18, 3-13 Centennial) shot just 29.9 percent from the field and didn't have a player reach double figures as they fell to the Blue Jays (12-10, 9-7).

Muhlenberg 67, McDaniel 47: Four players scored in double figures for the Mules (15-8, 12-6 Centennial) as they beat the host Green Terror (11-13, 8-11).

Salisbury 74, Frostburg State 69: The host Bobcats (6-17, 2-8 Capital Athletic Conference) couldn't contain Anna Hackett, who scored a team-high 26 points to help guide the Sea Gulls (11-11, 5-5) to a win.

Gettysburg 61, Washington College 49: The Shorewomen (10-13, 8-10 Centennial) kept the game close but couldn't overcome Caroline Murphy's 20 points, falling to the visiting Bullets (17-6, 14-4).

Drew 67, Goucher 49: Ebonie Diggs scored 17 points off the bench for the visiting Gophers (6-16, 2-10 Landmark Conference) in their loss to the Rangers (9-14, 5-7).

Marymount 59, St. Mary's 33: The Seahawks (10-10, 4-6 CAC) were held to their lowest point total of the season as they lost to the host Saints (20-4, 10-1).
