Brooks leads Morgan men over Liberty, 81-69

Aric Brooks scored 18 points to lead Morgan State past Liberty, 81-69, in a BracketBuster matchup Saturday at Hill Field House.

Dewayne Jackson and Justin Black each added 15 points off the bench for Morgan State (6-18) which halted a six-game losing streak.

Jesse Sanders led Liberty (12-17) with 21 points.

Colgate 59, Navy 57: Mitch Rolls hit a double-clutching 3-pointer with 1.5 seconds left to lift the visiting Raiders (8-19, 2-10 Patriot League) over the Midshipmen (3-23, 0-12), extending Navy's losing streak to 19 games, the second-longest active slide in the nation.

The Mids outscored Colgate 32-30 in the second half. Jordan Sugars had 20 points and Isaiah Roberts had 18 for Navy.

The game which was played in front of an announced 4,122, the fourth-longest non-Army crowd in Alumni Hall history.

Howard 70, Coppin State 66: Antonio Williams posted a career-high 21 points for the Eagles (13-13, 8-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference), but the Bison (8-19, 5-9) held Coppin State to its lowest shooting percentage in 13 games.

Canisius 73, UMBC 66: Chase Plummer had a game-high 24 points for the visiting Retrievers (4-24) in a losing effort against the Golden Griffins (5-22).

New Hampshire 72, Towson 58: A late rally by the Tigers (1-28, 1-15 Colonial Athletic Association) cut a 23-point deficit to nine, but New Hampshire (12-14, 6-8 America East) went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line in the final 1:07 to seal the win.

Robert Nwankwo scored a career-high 20 points for Towson.

Monmouth 68, Mount St. Mary's 66: The Mount (7-20, 5-11 Northeast Conference) lost a 60-51 lead in the second half to the visiting Hawks (10-19, 8-8).Virginia State 67, Bowie State 57: Darren Clark scored a game-high 21 points in a losing effort for the host Bulldogs (19-5, 11-4 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association).

The Trojans (7-17, 6-8) outscored Bowie 39-25 in the second half.

Johns Hopkins 71, Washington College 67: Freshman George Bugarinovic scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half to power the visiting Blue Jays (15-10, 1-7 Centennial Conference) past the Shoremen (13-12, 9-9).

St. Mary's 95, Frostburg State 81: The host Seahawks (18-6, 12-3 Capital Athletic Conference) took an early lead and the Bobcats (13-10, 10-5) trailed by as many as 34 points.

McDaniel 51, Gettysburg 49: The host Green Terror (9-16, 6-12 Centennial) used a late 7-0 run to beat the Bullets (11-14, 9-10).

Marymount 71, Stevenson 60: Stefon McCary led Stevenson (6-19, 3-13 Capital Athletic Conference) with 21 points, but the Mustangs fell to the Saints (6-19, 2-15).

York 65, Salisbury 61: The host Sea Gulls (12-13, 5-11 CAC) had a 36-32 lead at the half, but the Spartans (15-10, 10-6) rallied in the second half.

Catholic 84, Goucher 51: The Gophers (4-20, 1-13 Landmark Conference) got on the scoreboard first, but the Cardinals (17-8, 7-7 ) went ahead to stay on a 3-point basket by Steve Limberiou.

Women

Howard 50, Coppin State 49: Tamoria Holmes put the Bison (20-7, 12-2 MEAC) ahead with a 3-pointer in the last six seconds of regulation.

Holmes scored a game-high 23 points in Howard's seventh consecutive victory. The Eagles (15-11, 10-3) were led by Larrissa Carter with 11 points.

Mount St. Mary's 62, Fairleigh Dickinson 51: Jessie Kaufman scored a career-high 25 points to lead the host Mount (12-14, 8-7 Northeast) over the Knights (12-15, 7-8).

Selina Mann broke the program's single-game record for steals with 11.

Colgate 62, Navy 60: Candice Green hit the game-winning 3-pointer with 18 seconds remaining for the Raiders (7-20, 4-8 Patriot).

The Mids (14-12, 7-5) led by as many as 10 points in the first half, but Colgate outscored Navy 31-26 in the second.

Hampton 47, UMES 29: The host Pirates (19-4, 11-1 MEAC) led the Hawks (9-15, 6-6) by up to 21 points.

Bowie State 60, Virginia State 56, OT: Mariquilla Evans made a 3-point shot for the Trojans (14-12, 6-8 CIAA) with 15 seconds left in regulation to tie the game. The Bulldogs (8-14, 8-7) outscored Virginia State 8-4 in overtime to gain the win.

McDaniel 52, Gettysburg 50: The Green Terror (11-14, 8-12 Centennial) built a 10-point first-half lead en rouite to a victory over the Bullets (12-13, 10-10). McDaniel was led by Rachael Rybak with 17 points.

Washington College 73, Bryn Mawr 35: The host Shorewomen (16-9, 11-9 Centennial) took a 36-5 halftime lead over the Owls (0-25, 0-20). Latisha Pledger posted game highs of 17 points and 16 rebounds.

St. Mary's 85, Frostburg 60: The Seahawks (9-15, 7-8 CAC) took an early lead over the visiting Bobcats (5-19, 3-12). Leah Cranmer had 12 points off the bench for St. Mary's.

Marymount 66, Stevenson 52: Katelyn Fischer scored 13 of her 18 points in the second half to lead the Saints (13-12, 10-6 CAC) over the Mustangs (10-15, 5-11).

York 62, Salisbury 51: The Spartans (21-4, 14-2 CAC) led by as many as 19 with 10:22 left in the game before the Sea Gulls (14-10, 11-5) used a 9-0 run to cut the York lead to 10.

Valley Forge Christian 75, Notre Dame (Md.) 54: Morgan Godwin had 28 points and Amanda Reich had 22 for the Patriots (14-16) in their win over the host Gators (0-23).

Catholic 52, Goucher 28: The Gophers (5-20, 1-13 Landmark) lost the lead in the first five minutes and never got it back. The Cardinals (20-5, 11-3) were led by Jill Woerner with 15 points.
