There was no movement in the top five of the latest Maverik media poll released Monday morning and a few slight alterations in the rest of the top 10.
So that means that No. 1 Albany (6-0), No. 2 Maryland (6-1), No. 3 Duke (8-1), No. 4 Notre Dame (4-1) and No. 5 Denver (5-2) remained in their spots from last week. All five teams defeated ranked opponents on Saturday.
Yale (5-1) and Loyola Maryland (5-2) moved into a tie for sixth place, while Villanova slid from No. 6 to No. 8 after Saturday’s 13-11 loss to the reigning NCAA champion Terps. Johns Hopkins (5-2) and Virginia (6-2) flipped positions with the Blue Jays moving up one spot to No. 9 and the Cavaliers slipping to No. 10.
Rutgers (6-2) made the biggest leap from No. 18 to No. 11 courtesy of a 14-10 victory over then-No. 13 Syracuse on Sunday. Georgetown (6-1) made the biggest drop from No. 11 to No. 18 after losing to Drexel, 15-10. Towson, which had occupied the No. 20 ranking, fell out of the top 20 after Saturday’s 10-8 loss to the Blue Devils.
