Kurt Angle reveals his secret on RAW

On Monday night, Kurt Angle finally revealed the secret that had occupied his attention for weeks: Jason Jordan is his son.

Angle came out at the end of the 9:00 hour. He slowly explained that the first texts that he and Corey Graves received was about something from his past. Without his knowledge, a college girlfriend had given birth, and later gave the child up for adoption. That child recently found out his true parentage, and not just that, the child was already in WWE. He then brought out the newest member of RAW, Jason Jordan.

This was an interesting conclusion to this mystery that has gone on for over a month now. There are pros and cons to it. The cons are simply that this was a bit underwhelming considering the build that went into it. Angle, on multiple occasions, talked about how this could end his career. How would this reveal end his career? His family could be upset, but it should have no bearing on his career. So to build up this explosive revelation and then reveal this seems off. The other problem is simply that this is the end of American Alpha. Despite being tag champs, they never really got a chance to shine the way that they did in NXT. Jordan and Chad Gable had something special together, so hopefully they'll reunite at some point.

The good? Well, quite simply, this should result in a push for Jason Jordan, or should I say Jason Angle? Jason Jordan has always had star potential. He has the look and the ability to be a star, he just had trouble finding the right package before being paired with Gable. Even when he floundered in NXT though, you could tell that there were high hopes for him. He was the one made to look good after the breakup with Tye Dillinger. He was made to look like a big deal when he was searching for a partner. Hopefully being pushed as Jason Angle will be enough to get him over as a singles star.

Now, where do they go from here? We'll have to see. Just being Kurt Angle's son isn't going to be enough; WWE will have to explore what this relationship means. Only time will tell if WWE follows through.

The Rest of RAW:

» The No. 1 contender match between Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe was a no-contest as Braun Strowman showed up and wreaked havoc. He destroyed both Joe and Reigns, tossing them around and dealing out powerslams to both. The fact that Strowman was indiscriminate with his punishment probably indicates that they're going forward with a Fatal 4-way at SummerSlam, and not having Strowman face Reigns in a singles match once again.

» The show kicked off with Dean Ambrose calling out the Miztourage. Instead of the Miztourage though, Seth Rollins came out. Rollins told Ambrose that he was trying to fight a fight that he couldn't win (three on one). Ambrose was having none of it though. He berated Rollins for breaking up The Shield. He said that he couldn't trust him. Rollins decided that the only way to prove that he has changed was to turn his back and tell Ambrose to hit him with a chair as many times as he wanted. Ambrose declined to do it, but the Miztourage came out, all with chairs. Ambrose and Rollins fell to the numbers game. Angle later made a 2-on-3 match between the groups for next week.

» Finn Balor beat Elias Samson by DQ. After a fairly short match, Samson grabbed his guitar and smashed it over Balor's head. This didn't look like the extremely gimmicked guitar that Jeff Jarrett used to use. It was clearly shaved down somewhat, but it looked to do some real damage to Balor. After the match, Bray Wyatt appeared on the screen and threatened Balor, so it looks like we're going back to the match that was teased back in May.

» Bayley beat Alexa Bliss in a non-title match. Nia Jax was out supporting Alexa Bliss, and later would get involved in the match. Sasha Banks ran out and attacked Nia, and while Alexa observed, Bayley would hit her with a Bayley-to-Belly for the win. After the match, both Bayley and Sasha went to Kurt Angle to petition for a title match, and he decided the two would face next week for a title shot. Likely this is going down the same road as Reigns/Joe/Strowman.

» Ariya Daivari beat Akira Tozawa after Titus O'Neil forfeited on behalf of Tozawa. Tozawa's leg was getting battered, so O'Neil asked for the match to be stopped. Toazawa was very unhappy with him after the match.

» The Revival beat The Hardys in their RAW return match.

» Mustafa Ali and Jack Gallagher beat Drew Gulak and Brian Kendrick in a tag match.
